Escaping for their anniversary

For Grandma and Grandpa's  anniversary we thought that they would really enjoy some romantic time together, so we brought them to this place called the Great Escape. It was so much fun!
Grandma and Grandpa even got two romantic boat rides...one in a swan boat and one on a log ride.
We learned a lot about past adventures there too.... Grandma went when she was a little girl, and Mom did too. and Mom and Dad went with Aunt Kristen and Aunt Rebecca on their 3rd date!..
Mom and Dad said they saved the best ride for last - Jacob thought so...Adrienne didn't...
In case you weren't familiar with Great Escape - this may bring back memories...it used to be called storytown usa.

Adrienne in the pumpkin house -

on the carousel

Jacob - notice the toothy grin.

Grandpa waving to us...he broke some ribs last week, so he couldn't do many of the rides (he's under the tree)

On the sky ride....which Mom thought we wouldn't be interested in with all the chair lifts we ride all winter - but we liked it - this picture..is calling for a now and then take 5 in the calendar.
Adrienne's favorite part of the entire day - meeting cinderella.

Those past storytown vistiors can you guess where we are??? We realized we could see cinderella from here too so we are checking her out......Any idea where we are???

in the shoe! There was an old woman who lived in a shoe.... but the slide is gone!

Mom and dad love the log flume... they thought we would too - you can see the pure excitement on their faces - and the sheer terror on ours -

walking out with grandma and the end of great day
Happy 43rd anniversary grandma and grandpa!

New Beds

I was getting a little big for my toddler bed and mom found us new beds on craiglist! We got them while Jacob was at grandma and grandpa and we had a surprise for him when he got home! It took a few days to get set up and get me a new matress! Last night we had our first night in them. (June 22nd) Here we are at bedtime!

Let's go fishing!

For the last two summers we participated in  Vermont Ventures, in this  program  you need to earn 250 points by doing outside activities, when you reach 250 points you get a free state  park pass for the following season.  We started last weekend and earned 15 points by starting a fire without match or a lighter and reading the lorax outside. Today we attending a let's go fishing  event. We got a ton of points...
points for attending a lets go fishing event
points for fishing
points for taking an under 15 person fishing - this was basically our first fishing experience with the exception of north carolina.
points for attending a fish hatchery
points for attending place that uses alternative power...wind today.

In order to go fishing we had to go to 6 out of 12 workshops about fishing.

We also learned so exciting things about our future today.
Jacob has a wonderful, caring heart...but won't ever be transplanting them. Adrienne will.

Here we are at the fish hatcher - see the wind mill behind us.

learning to cast

learning to cast

learning to tie knots

learning how to clean and flillet fish - this is where we learned that Jacob would not ever be a doctor - he was so sick to his stomach he turned white and after watching he wasn't going to fish.
On the other hand...There was shortage of worms so they needed to be pulled in half and then put on the hook...Adrienne had no problem pulling them in half...even demanding I want to do it
after sitting with mom for a while and talking about how it also makes mom sick and how this pond was especially made for fishing and then going to a workshop about bobbers - Jacob decided it was ok to fish

inside the hatchery - they were jumping out of the water to eat!
Needless to say we continued our success in fishing....catching nothing.. but we had fun anyway!

Celebrating Cows

We live in Vermont - There are lots of cows in Vermont, some say there are more cows than people. (we are ranked 49th in population) Yesterday we went to the Enosburgh Dairy Days - it's a huge celebration....celebrating Dairy and the cow...Midway rides, road races, BBQ.(.chicken of course so the cows wouldn't be upset.) and a big parade. This year in school, we participated in the dairy classroom, learning about farms and dairy so this year I got to participate in the parade. Mom went along with me. It was my first parade that I was in...mom mentioned the last parade she was in was a little bigger.

mom'sast parade she was in...she  carried the pumpkins in 2003...she's back there on the right pumpkin.
